We learned something virtually jalapenos when we shopped for this. The shelf guy at the grocery store assisted in choosing jalapenos, and he said his dad used to grow them. The more than pointed the jalapeno, the spicier, he said. We hadn't known that, and since we're not big on actually hot spice, nosotros chose a very rounded jalapeno for this recipe. It was perfect! A pleasant estrus afterward y'all eat, but not overwhelming. And oh, yes, we did like the recipe and will make it again. It'southward a keeper!

Made it almost exactly similar the recipe and information technology was expert. Then I let information technology simmer for at to the lowest degree 1.5 hours and it was GLORIOUS! I used stew meat (chopped in small cubes), left out the jalapenos and used Macayo Salsa Verde for the salsa. The effect was a wonderfully flavored meat for tacos, burritos, chimis or in my case, enchiladas. The secret seems to exist to go along simmering the beef until the liquid is cooked off. I alive in the Southwest and eat a lot of Mexican food, and will make this recipe again and again.

HELPFUL TIPS THAT HELPED ME: If this is your kickoff time working with beefiness stew meat, look for beef stew meat that is already cubed and packaged. You may want to cube them even smaller if you plan to use the meat for tacos, etc. I've done this both means & using a FRESH jalapeƱo tastes a lot better. Don't be afraid to utilise a lot more green salsa!! I used a lot more than than 7 ounces. Use what'south necessary to comprehend all the meat ...and and then more as you run across it soak up. You don't want your beef stew to turn out dry! Lastly, to make this 5-stars, simmer information technology for an hour. This is very quick. I never saw my husband and kids consume so much. They usually only consume chicken.

This recipe is very mis-leading. I followed the recipe exactly, and the recipe fails to note that in social club for stew meat to be edible, information technology must be STEWED. This means the meat must cook in liquid for quite some fourth dimension, similar an hour or more. So, as it is written, this recipe is not adept. However, I'm sure the flavors would be excellent with stewed meat. Besides, equally some other reviewer noted, cilantro should not be added before the stewing process. It should be added at the very terminate, to keep its fresh flavor. I hope to endeavor this recipe again with changes soon.

I tin't get a lot of Mexican food items here in Australia, so when my son came to visit usa a few weeks ago, he brought me a case of 4 oz cans of green chilies. I used ane of these in place of the green salsa and information technology turned out wonderfully. I really miss the "authentic" Mexican tastes here and this was a real care for, thank you for the recipe.

This was outstanding! Added double the garlic, cilantro and jalapeno(seeded)--but we like spicey. Besides cut the stew meat in smaller cubes. Added 2 cans of salsa and cooked for 2-iii hours on low to really tenderize the meat(added a scrap of water if necessary). Wrapped the mixture in tortillas, added more salsa and these were sooo good! Take stock-still a number of times.

Browned the stew meat the dark before. Cooked in crockpot on depression covered to the meridian of meat with beef stock and half tin can of green chile peppers so the flavors would blend. Drain liquids from crockpot in a strainer so yous don't lose the peppers. Combined red salsa, green onions, oregano, lime juice, garlic, onion and a little basil husband don't similar cilantro. Threw in a little more of the canned chili peppers. Cooked them all together, served with refried beans, tortillas, chips, sour cream and he had to have his tomato. He loved it. Thanks for the postal service.

My married man never comments on my cooking, but praised this dish over and over, and said he wanted information technology every night for dinner. I used ground beef because I couldn't notice stew meat at the store. So GOOD!! A little spicy, next time I will serve it with chopped tomatoes and sour cream to cool it downwards a bit. Yum!

What a great notice in the thousands and thousands of recipe on AR. I found a package of stew meat in the freezer and went on a quest to find something to make with it. I made this, but put information technology all in the crockpot to dull cook all day. I did brownish the onion, beef and garlic on the stovetop before putting in the crockpot. I then added i chopped jalapeƱo to the meat mixture. One hour before eating I added the rest of the ingredients to the crockpot. We ate this on flour tortilla shells and topped the meat mixture with "Taco Slaw" from AR. Thanks for sharing this recipe Melissa, it was 1 of the best I've made in 2011.

This is a tasty dish and very easy to make. I employ canned jalapenos (about i/four cup) and I add about two Tbsp. of calorie-free sour cream. Notation: to keep the cilantro flavor alive, toss it in simply as you cease cooking. Otherwise, it volition wilt and the flavour will not be as intense.

We enjoyed this dish quite a bit! Cheers! While information technology drives me basics when reviewers rate a recipe when they've fabricated all kinds of changes to it, I have to admit that I did add 1 tsp. of cumin to the mix considering I am crazy for that spice! With or without the improver, information technology is a wonderful dish. Some words of advice -- cut the meat into evenly-sized pieces; most definitely simmer the meat until tender, while making certain that the meat is covered with plenty salsa to keep it from drying out (I simmered it for 2 hours based on other reviews and the fact that my pieces of meat were rather large); the beef will just be as practiced equally the dark-green salsa that you use, so use whatever kind is your favorite for best results. You could certainly play with the "heat" of this recipe by adding more jalapenos if desired. 1 pound of meat was not enough for 4 people, however. Adjacent fourth dimension I will double the recipe. All in all, a super recipe -- cheers for sharing!
01/13/2006
Loved this! Followed recipe exactly, easy and very tasty! I'd prefer it to be a little more salty. Next time I brand this, I'll add a little garlic common salt to the meat like someone suggested in a previous review. All in all, very good.
08/07/2006
Yum. It was very good. I followed another viewers suggestion about cutting stew meat into small pieces and used dark-green salsa every bit directed. It was fantastic. Thanks for the recipe I will be using information technology alot. Fabricated it twice offset fourth dimension I gave it 4 stars the second I upped it to 5. It is one of my favorite recipes and very glad I plant this one.
03/20/2011
Really Expert!! I put this in the crockpot earlier going to work in the morning time. When I got domicile, I made some cheese enchiladas and smothered them with the Mexican Beef Supreme that had been cooking all day. My family gobbled it up!!
02/24/2011
I made this in my crockpot on loftier for 4 hours - added ii cups of beef broth, enough of garlic, browned the beef and added 16 oz. verde salsa and a small can of light-green chiles. Added the green onion, lime juice cilantro nearly 20 minutes earlier serving. It was fantastic! This is definitely going to be one my weekly "go to" recipes!
03/eighteen/2011
Made co-ordinate to directions. Did let meat simmer near an 60 minutes, merely it was VERY tough. My married man said that if the meat does Non take any fat...you just cook it a short amount of time. Will endeavor once more with different meat or melt the lean meat the 10 minutes they recommend in this recipe. Good recipe though.
02/18/2014
Made this for my hubby and it smelled awesome. I was surprised because it was much thicker than I expected merely the olfactory property and taste was keen. This might be good as a filler in a wrapper or over Castilian rice.
02/26/2006
I put this in the crockpot and cooked on low all solar day. I put it on wheat tortillas and added some sour cream. We actually enjoyed this. Thanks
06/15/2011
This has turned into a favorite at my house:) I have made it for company and everyone loves it. I put everything into the crockpot and allow it do its job and by the time dinner rolls effectually its perfect. Nosotros eat it with corn tortillas, beans and rice, or with buns, information technology makes a wonderful sandwich. worth more than a five star rating!!!
01/16/2012
So delish! I did simmer for about 2 hours though to actually get the sauce to reduce which I think is necessary. I also added a bit of sour cream in the sauce to make information technology more creamy and of course some for garnish. First time ever having light-green salsa and very tasty and perfect spicy dish. Thanks!
08/02/2008
this is super succulent. information technology definitely needs to simmer for at to the lowest degree an hour though. add a little flake of water if you need to during the simmering process. and don't add the cilantro until the very end! i besides add sour foam at the stop to brand it more creamy.
eleven/fourteen/2009
Nosotros liked this pretty good. I served information technology with yellow rice and tortillas, it fabricated a filling meal.
02/11/2007
This was OK, just everyone agreed that it was missing something, we idea peradventure some cumin would help.
05/12/2010
Dandy burrito filling! I served it with refried beans. I used leftover roast and shredded it for this repast. I besides threw in some of the leftover roast potatoes. And then good. I and so used the leftover mexican beef and refried beans, added some cheese and sour foam, stirred and heated for a yummy chip dip.
02/21/2012
I browned onion so meat in frying pan. I added a cup of beef broth. Put all of it in crock pot on low for nigh 4 hours. And then took lid off and cooked information technology on Hi for almost an hour to reduce the liquid. WOW AMAZINGLY Skilful! And and so tender my meat shredded. I also don't intendance for the dryness of stew meat. I bought a New York strip steak that had marble in it. My hubby is a very picky eater and always has a complaint. He not only loved information technology but said it was ane of the all-time dishes I have ever made. He wants to have the leftovers with scrambled eggs and black beans wrapped in tortillas for breakfast. Thank you for a great recipe!
11/18/2010
This was pretty good. Hubby liked it also.
08/17/2006
Delicious! I followed the advice of another reviewer and made it in the crock pot. I drained a can of blackness beans and added information technology to the mixture, forth with 4 roma tomatoes. I'grand definitely making this again soon!
10/12/2009
This is good. Information technology has a simple taste-not complicated with a agglomeration of seasonings. Think, mexican home cooking. I used 3 cans of salsa verde and cooked for most an hour until nearly of the liquid had evaporated. I fabricated it into tacos and beef and bean burritos. I worried that it would be besides spicy. I used ane huge rounded tip jalapeno. It had a lot of flavor. I didn't take to add hot sauce or sour cream.
09/nineteen/2009
First-class with thin-sliced venison too! YUM!! I didn't fifty-fifty have the dark-green onions and I used homemade salsa verde. Instead of simmering 10 minutes, I put the mixture in the pressure cooker for well-nigh half dozen minutes to tenderize. A crockpot would be a great choice too!
01/21/2008
Oh so good....!! followed the the recipe... except used a 16oz jar of mild salsa verde. After browning the meat... I put everything in the crock-pot for 5 hours. Meat was really tender and all the flavors blended nicely! I can't await to share this recipe with my Mexican sister in law... think she will be impressed! Thanks for submitting it.. :)
05/07/2007
This was yummy! Withal, similar others take said, if you use stew meat, you actually, really need to simmer information technology for a long time to get the meat tender. If you don't take time, and so use a tender cutting of meat like sirloin tips. I concluded upwardly, out of neccessity, simmering it for 3 hours and it was wonderful! I'chiliad going to try it in my slow cooker all twenty-four hour period adjacent time. This would also be swell with craven or pork. I demand to double the recipe next time because we didn't take plenty leftovers for all the work/time. I did have some leftovers over a mixture of steamed white and wild rice and it was a wonderful combination. Originally I served this as a filling with sharp cheddar/jack cheese in flour tortillas! YUMMY! This is a keeper! **Added** I made this a second time in the crock pot and information technology was peachy! I browned the meat with the seasonings, onion, and garlic, and then put information technology in the crock and then poured the sauce over it. I used more salsa this time (sixteen oz to 1.3 lbs meat), added a one-half-tin can of tomato plant paste I had in the fridge, and some diced potatoes. Awesome! I cooked information technology on depression for viii hours.
11/xv/2006
This was a good recipe. It was very flavorful and it had an unexpected bite to it, which my husband and I enjoyed. Thanks for sharing it! One change: I would add a picayune more olive oil than the recipe recommends when browning the beefiness.
07/16/2012
Good and easy to make
03/25/2006
Excellent recipe! Adjacent time will effort with a little jalepeno for some boot! Will definitely make again.
09/26/2012
My family loves this recipe. My kids loved it, never any leftovers. I take tried with mild salsa verde and with the spicy green chiles, and information technology needs the spicy otherwise it falls a little flat. This has get a regular dish in out rotation.
07/28/2008
I think this is really good. I make this in the slow cooker and serve information technology with my ain version of Jeera rice in the rice cooker. Perfect for a work solar day.
09/30/2003
My family unit loved this dish. My daughter says it tastes like a party in my mouth.
04/xvi/2006
I guess I'm the odd homo out on this recipe. Nosotros thought it was good, only we were not as impressed every bit the other reviewers. I made it exactly as written, but information technology was a lilliputian dry and bland. I probably won't make this again since there are improve recipes available.
09/15/2006
My family and friends loved this recipe, although, I did add some stuff. I added potatoes, carrots, and peas...to make it a more all around dish. Otherwise, the spicing and flavor were absolutely perfect! And, a note, the make of salsa you use will brand a difference.
ten/10/2011
Succulent. Making this this night for the second time in two weeks. Everyone loved it. I like my meat a lilliputian saucier so I used two small cans green chile (Embasa) sauce, and I let the meat simmer on depression for near one.5 hours. Very tasty. Nosotros eat it with rice and corn tortillas.
09/13/2012
Loved It!
01/03/2007
Great meal! I left out the peppers and it was nonetheless plenty spicy (I suppose it depends on the brand of salsa verde y'all use). I mixed in a big scoop of sour foam at the cease. On a warm tortilla...yum!
05/04/2012
WOW!! WILL Brand AGAIN....FOLLOWED RECIPE EXCEPT ADDED MORE JALAPENO! SERVED OVER RICE W/A DOLLOP OF SOURCREAM... Will TRYW/ TORTILLAS Next TIME!
05/26/2010
I was looking for a recipe using stew meat and found this 1. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised with how proficient this was!! I didn't change a thing regarding the ingredients; I did let the meat & cilantro mixture simmer for 20+ minutes. Served with rice in tortilla shells. Information technology was delicious! Will definitely brand again. I accept to comment on a couple reviews - someone said 1/2 cup lime juice was as well much. it's non i/2 loving cup, it's 1/two lime!! and I idea the amount of lime was perfect. someone else said it was too tomato-eee, although I have no idea how. in that location were no tomatos in it unless they are in the salsa verde. thanks so much for sharing melissa!
06/05/2018
I poured everything into the crockpot afterward browning, added cumin and a couple shots of Tabasco Chipotle. Delicious!
03/27/2012
Yum. Spicy with all the jalapeno.
02/04/2008
What a great recipe! My husband loved this recipe and I substituted Chicken for the beefiness and used corn tortillas to roll the chicken in. Information technology was succulent! Thanks!
xi/05/2011
Yumm-o. I added a piffling miso paste to give depth to the flavor, doubled the amount of salsa and a niggling water since I simmered it for an hour I didn't want the liquid to cook off.
04/12/2006
An instant favorite! My family said it was better than our favorite burrito take out! I use cut up chicken breast instead of beef. Next time I'll try shredded craven and then the meat and sauce blend together.
05/05/2005
This was fabulous! I did add a little sour foam and served it with rice and refried beans.
05/xiii/2005
Tasty, though I used regular picante sauce instead of green salsa. I had 1 one/3 pounds of meat, so I adjusted the other ingredients accordingly. Instead of jalepeno, I used 1 anaheim pepper. This smells bang-up, tastes really good and nosotros ate it over white rice that had a bit of chili powder, oregano, salt/pepper and garlic pulverisation added.
x/xxx/2006
this wan an splendid mexiacn dish. we served mexian rice with it and tortillas and it was a hit.
10/23/2007
Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! A new family favourite. I skipped the jalep. as my husband is super-sensitive to them, simply I substituted a spicy green salsa for the kick. Too,I used white onions and they got besides mushy, then I recommend a sturdier onion. I recollect I'll try it with shredded meat side by side time and serve it in tortillas. *** I made this once more while visiting family, merely I used leftover cooked craven and served information technology in tortillas - they LOVED information technology!
03/09/2004
My husband really liked this. We used chicken & will effort with beef some other time.
05/06/2008
This is a very adept, and forgiving recipe as long as you do as other reviewers accept done and simmer it longer. I ended upwards called-for it a little because I didnt add water, but it was all the same fantastic. I've never had cilantro/lemon beef before, but I certainly will in the future. It's a bang-up blend of flavors. Information technology's also a nifty way to make apply of inexpensive cuts of beef to stretch a dollar. Minor improver: We had some frozen shrimp in the freezer. As the beef was finishing up, I sauteed them in olive oil with some leftover cilantro. When the shrimp was nearly washed, I mixed in the beef mixture and pretty much just let it warm for a few minutes. The shrimp had a overnice light flavour which complemented the beef very nicely.
11/17/2009
This was very good, and surprisingly quick. I gave it five stars because of its easiness and it's adaptability because you can alter to fit what you have on hand. I did not utilise a jalapeno or green onions as I did not accept either. I used fresh crimson salsa in identify of green salsa (again did non take), and I added about 1/ii cup of fresh chopped tomatoes. I doubled the cilantro because I beloved the flavor. I served it with sour cream which was corking because it cooled off my rima oris from the heat. Overall a groovy recipe to take.
11/25/2016
It was practiced.
03/22/2009
I made it simply as described, merely I didn't utilise a jalapeno and I allow information technology simmer all afternoon. Perfect! Thank y'all thank you lot! I volition use this recipe often with chicken also.
04/09/2019
This is fantastic! I sautƩed the onions with the Jalapino and added a fresh Poblano, diced forth with the garlic to a dry out pan. In one case softened, I added the stew meat with avocado Oil. Slightly browned the meat and so added fresh green salsa and Mexican Oregano and i/two lime, juiced. Simmered for about iii hours until the meat was tender. Added fresh green onions and Cilantro.
06/08/2009
Very popular flavor fest! The lime juice is fundamental. This was a solid recipe served with rice.
06/27/2010
This recipe was wonderful but i did melt information technology down for virtually an 60 minutes and added beefiness broth while simmering. i added actress cilantro and i think it was besides much but everyone else loved it.
02/17/2006
This recipe is EXCELLENT. I used Onetime El Paso green chile sauce for the salsa and cooked information technology a bit longer. I also used a chuck roast which I cubed instead of stew meat. WONDERFUL!
02/14/2010
Great flavor. When I make it side by side time I'll likely practice shredded beefiness rather than cubed. The await with the salsa verde was a bit scary, but it was succulent!
03/02/2006
This was cracking! I wasn't certain if it would exist for me just the whole family loved it. I simmered information technology for over an hour and a one-half, not sure how anyone could eat the beefiness at 10 minutes, information technology was way too tough, but afterward simmering information technology was tender! I will make this again!
11/xvi/2010
I hosted a book club coming together this weekend, and I made a Mexican-inspired repast to go along with our book of choice, set up in United mexican states. This recipe was delicious! I fabricated a few adjustments for personal taste--I double the lime, jalapeƱos, and the salsa verde. I left information technology in the slow cooker for nigh three hours, and the meat was delicious and tender. 08/15/2012

04/09/2006
My married man could not quit raving near this!! The light-green sauce is so neat!! The stew meat was a little tough so Im anxious to attempt it with chicken.
02/20/2006
My son has lived in Mexico for over a year. I fabricated this recipe for him and nosotros all loved it. Information technology was more than enough for 3 big appetites. Information technology was however very practiced.
01/31/2007
Nosotros loved this! I did detect that you really need to cook the stew beefiness a bit longer. Even my picky eaters raved. I tried it once again on a weekend and did it in the crock pot. 09/26/2009
This was a fast and like shooting fish in a barrel meal...the smell of information technology cooking was tempting the family before it was ready...gotta retrieve to practise this one again!
05/14/2019
This was very tasty, but I would use carmine salsa or tomato sauce instead of or in addition to the greenish salsa to ease the sourness. Annotation: cook the onions till translucent before adding the meat, and the onions will caramelize and sweeten dish. Recipe makes plenty for four aplenty servings. I made it concluding night, and brought leftovers to piece of work for my lunch.
03/nineteen/2009
Very Good! will be making again.
07/01/2007
This is an awesome recipe. My husband is from United mexican states and he loved this recipe when I made it this evening. My husband and kids asked me to go far at least once a week. After a few minutes I added the beef(and salt) and cooked the meat until browned. Side by side I added the cilantro mixture. Finally I took the pan with the meat, onions and cilantro mixture and added it to my crockpot. I then added 2 7 ounce cans of green salsa. I allow it cook in my crockpot on depression for virtually 6 hours. The meat was very tender. Nosotros fabricated soft tacos with the meat and served mexican rice on the side. Thanks for an astonishing recipe.

05/23/2019
Seared the beef etc. off in a pan and deglazed with 1/iii cup of tequila. (Inhaled vapor, oops!) Poured beefiness, liquids and everything else into the crock pot and cooked for a scrap over 4hrs. WOW!
06/08/2010
This was very expert and easy to make. I used a 7oz can of Herdez green salsa. Next time I will add a lot more garlic and cilantro and some other jalapeƱo. I also simmered information technology for around an hour to make the meat tender. Thanks for sharing I volition make this again.

02/23/2006
Existence for New United mexican states, we swallow a lot of light-green chili and dissimilar types of peppers just this dish had a different favor than we are utilize to in this state. The apply of lime and cilantro was excellent! I will make this again.
xi/01/2008
This is a very authentic recipe. I browned the meat with the onoions and garlic then put everything in the slow cooker for 3 hours on high. Side by side time I'k going to endeavour this recipe with a flank steak and I will shred the meat after for burritos.
05/03/2010
Astonishing season! I cannot believe my children loved it too! Information technology was not too spicy for me at all, simply worried for my kiddos I did add about 1/4 cup sour cream to sauce. We volition be making this again and once more! Thanks for the recipe!

09/01/2012
Very tasty! Needed some salt, but otherwise a very delicious payoff for a very simple-to-prepare meal!
03/xx/2006
This recipe was darn good! I used basis beef as opposed to 'beef stew meat', and decided not to serve it with rice & beans... merely instead with seize with teeth size tortilla chips! (which could could too double for an appetizer for potlucks etc.). Hmmm, not a bad idea!!! I added sour cream added as a garnish later. Yum, yum!

02/03/2007
I wondered well-nigh using stew meat when I commencement read this recipe. The meat really turned out very chewy and tough. Although the season of the sauce was very good, would apply some other meat next time. Besides used more than than the seven ozs. of sauce the recipe called for. Other than that this recipe really is very good.
06/10/2006
I wasn't overly impressed. Wife liked it ameliorate than I did. The salsa you utilize will make or intermission this recipe.
01/19/2010
Superb Hubby loved it without any changes to recipe. He says 5 stars I agree!
01/17/2010
Oh My Gosh!! This is so expert! I made it just equally stated except no light-green onions (I forgot to buy them). It had the perfect amount of heat. My DH literally licked his plate! :) Served on tortillas with a mild cheddar and sour cream. Dear IT! I lived in south TX for years earlier moving northward. This reminds me of the nutrient nosotros used to eat at that place and have a hard time finding up here! Thanks!
05/eighteen/2009
I had a beef in the crock pot, but didn't know what I wanted to exercise with it. Threw in everything but the jalapeno'southward and loved it. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
06/eighteen/2004

5 stars without a doubt, this is better mexican food then annihilation I have had at any restaurant or made at abode earlier. I fabricated it exactly as recipe states, dont pass this one up.
12/05/2007
This was really skilful! I used hot salsa verde, and the jalapeno. I love spicy food, but that was a bit much, information technology overpowered the other flavors. The meat was a bit tough for me, but I recall that information technology would be okay if it was cutting into smaller peices. Next time I am going to try making it with greenish bong pepper instead of onions and garlic.
01/08/2015
This was very good. I cooked it for over an hour to make the meat super tender. Will definitely make again.
12/09/2008
This was a very good dish. The just things that I did different was to boil the stew meat in beef goop. I transfered the stew meat to a skillet and cooked the vegetables along with the meat.Y'all need the flavor of the onion and garlic in the meat.I used 1/4 loving cup lime juice. I poured the lime juice in the one tin of chili verde sauce that covered the meat.I only had 1 package of stew meat so one can of salsa was sufficient.I used this meat for soft Tacos and served information technology with homemade spanish rice.Everyone loved it.
